Erin actively practices and teaches the seven Leave No Trace principles and has completed the Leave No Trace 101 course.
the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace:
1. Plan Ahead and Prepare: Know the regulations, prepare for extreme weather, and schedule trips to avoid high-use times.
2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces: Stick to established trails, camp at least 200 feet from water, and use durable surfaces like rock, gravel, or dry grass.
3. Dispose of Waste Properly: Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter ("Pack it in, pack it out").
4. Leave What You Find: Do not touch or remove historical artifacts, rocks, or plants.
5. Minimize Campfire Impacts: Use lightweight stoves for cooking and established fire rings if fires are allowed.
6. Respect Wildlife: Observe animals from a distance, never feed them, and secure food and trash.
7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors: Yield to others, keep loud noises to a minimum, and respect the experience of others.
